A wise cabbie and a very fast drive.

Dear Everyone and everything

This has been playing on my mind for a long while, ever since I returned from Geelong. I had the chance encounter with rather charismatic taxi driver, who not only saved me $5 in wicked break neck driving tactics gave me his spin or whole world, life and everything.

The problem with this entry, is that I cannot give him justice to the things he said. I am unsure of his intentions, and I do not want to make this entry about religion, or feel that I have a weak mindset that is fed by convincing words.

I had once again returned from another hospital visit, and felt rather burnt out, knowing I had to go to work in the office once again in the morning. I stood in the taxi line at the Sydney airport, staring at nothing in particular, as the line shuffled forward and each party was allocated a taxi slot. My line seemed to stagnate and then move forward suddenly. However I never seemed any closer to getting a taxi home.

After being allocated taxi spot number 4, my taxi arrived and the taxi driver opened the back to allow my luggage to be stowed. I fell into the back, and told him my address. I asked him the normal polite chatter "how is your night? Busy?" etc, and after him asking the best direction to my apartment, I gave him the choice as I am unsure which is the best way. Then he asked me what the difference was between the mind and the brain.
Thus ensured a debate on what constitutes a function of the brain and the mind. Questions on whether the movement of the leg, or smell was part of the mind, or like the mind, another function of the brain. We discussed where the separation of the mind, the brain and its functions lay. I was having trouble keeping up because of the abstract nature of the conversation and the zig zagging of the taxi.

I don't know if it was because I looked disgruntled with everything, worn out or whether he just felt like talking. He then changed the subject and asked me if he could tell me his perspective on the world, life and everything. He said do you mind if I tell you my thoughts on everything and how its interconnected and what it all is for?

I said go ahead. Despite feeling unable to make an adequate contribution to any debate.
